Construction of the Water Supply System in Doljevac

In the municipality of Doljevac, the European Union (EU) through the EU PRO development programme is financing a local infrastructure project aimed at improving the quality of life.

EU PRO is financing projects in 37 local self-governments in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and South and East Serbia, in the amount of four million Euros, which was approved by the Programme Steering Committee based on administrative, programme and technical evaluation of the proposals. These projects will primarily improve the conditions in cultural and sports institutions, schools and kindergartens, health care and social welfare institutions, and will also improve the communal infrastructure which will particularly contribute to the improved living conditions for members of vulnerable groups. The municipality of Doljevac has been granted funds for the construction of the water supply system in the Malošište, Belotinac, Čapljinac and Klisura settlements.

A total of 46 project proposals were submitted for the public call, which was open from 26 April to 29 June 2018. One of the necessary conditions for applying was the existence of a building permit and a financial participation of at least 15 percent of the project’s value. Thus, the 37 local self-governments with approved projects will participate in the implementation with 1.6 million Euros, while the total budget for all projects is estimated at 6.1 million Euros.

The Doljevac municipality has been approved a project that will mostly be financed by the EU PRO development programme with 150,000 Euors, while the local self-government will invest 117,846 Euros. The project envisages the extension and connection of the Pusta reka water supply system to the water supply system in Belotinac.

According to the project, 2,460 meters of the Pusta reka water supply system will be added and it will be connected to the Niš system. This will enable all 5,154 inhabitants of Malošište, Čapljinac, Belotinac and Klisura as well as enterprises operating in the municipality of Doljevac to have access to safe drinking water. Through the activities aimed at the implementation of the good governance principles, the Rulebook on the Conditions and Method of Connection to the Water Supply System will be adopted and implemented by the Public Utility Company.

By supporting the implementation of public infrastructure projects, the European Union directly contributes to improving the life of the local population through improving the quality and accessibility of public utilities, health care and social welfare services, as well as improved conditions for the education and development of children and young people.
