One Million Euro for the Kosančić zone agribusiness

Bojnik, with its plans for the village of Kosančić, is one of the local self-governments whose projects have been approved within the EU PRO Programme. The funds will also go to Kragujevac, Paraćin, Priboj, Smederevo, Sokobanja, Svilajnac, Šabac and Užice. As much as one million Euros has been awarded to the local self-government in Bojnik for the infrastructural equipping of the agribusiness zone in the village of Kosančić that covers an area of 53 hectares.

This epilogue was preceded by a public call and, among nine approved projects aimed at improving the business infrastructure - worth a total of four million Euros - a small municipality in the south of Serbia has been allocated the highest amount. That's why in Bojnik they believe that this will enable them to offer the land, fully communally equipped, to potential investors, which has not been the case so far.

"Over the past years, we had nothing to offer to people interested in investing in this part of the country and the new zone will soon allow the creation of new jobs and produce conditions for us to keep our young people here. This is the basis of our future plans and the overall development of Bojnik," explains Nebojša Nenadović, Mayor of Bojnik.

The project envisages the construction of about four and a half kilometres of access roads, water and sewerage networks, two power transformer stations and telecommunication infrastructure. Similar projects have been approved for Kragujevac, Paraćin, Priboj, Smederevo, Sokobanja, Svilajnac, Šabac and Užice, and their total participation in the works on equipping the industrial zones and the development of tourist infrastructure amounts to an additional one million Euros.

The EU PRO Programme builds on the results of previous donor programmes known as EU PROGRES and European PROGRES. The new round of support from the donors is aimed at improved conditions for attracting investments and job creation, increased ccompetitiveness of the enterprises, improved work of local self-governments and strengtened social inclusion.
